Perhaps you've attended our Learn to Swim or Freestyle Improver Courses and are looking to keep up your new found stroke, or you're a newcomer to triathlon looking for a great friendly regular swim class. You might be just getting back into swimming after a long break or an Age Grouper looking to improve your race times. Whatever your level and experience, our friendly style and modern scientific coaching methods will make you swim more comfortably and efficiently with great technique. We help you swim much faster and learn to love not loathe swimming! We're not like other swimming clubs, we have positive vibes between all members and you'll feel welcomed from the outset. Which Session do I need?
Our most improved Squad swimmers come to at least two of the following sessions per week:
Open Water Mondays
Own Lane Wednesdays
This session will help you improve your freestyle technique and endurance swimming for your open water races. We coach you in the many different aspects that make a good open water swimmer:
Adapting your stroke style
Swimming straight (shorter line = faster time!)
Drafting and swimming in a pack
Fitness training in the open water
Mass starts and swim exits
Regular timed races
Building your confidence with a friendly group of likeminded people
"Last year, after 6 years of taking part in triathlons and always struggling in the swim even though I love swimming, I decided to take some lessons. I was nervous about joining the Development Squad at the lake, but needn't have been - a very friendly and inclusive bunch of people and Ali making sure that the session is adapted to individual needs and abilities. Coaching to help you tune up your freestyle stroke faults, enabling you to swim distance freestyle more efficiently. This is suitable for beginner freestylers to advanced masters swimmers and triathletes.
Each swimmer is given a suitable swimming volume for your ability so no-one ever feels like they can't keep up or they're not being challenged. Your fitness will improve as you start becoming capable of swimming further for longer much more easily.

We know public pools can get crowded, so we offer this rare opportunity to come and swim in most weeks your own lane or busy weeks with one other. Either follow the technique endurance session on the board or bring your own to suit your current training schedule. Semi-coached with Annie and/or Ali on hand in the outside lane/s leading private coaching sessions and group courses. A great chance to get your head down and get in an uninterrupted swim using equipment freely!

This session is guaranteed to improve your endurance swimming and race performances.
It's individually targetted to build your unique threshold speed and cardio vascular/respiratory fitness so you can start pushing yourself that bit harder in the water.
Slightly longer sets range from 100-400m with short rest intervals to keep your heart rate in your lactate threshold zone. All swimmers can benefit immensely from this type of session.

How our pool squad sessions work
FREE taster session
We have a beginner lane in our Tuesday Technique session where you can take things at your own pace, spending quality coaching time on your stroke and gradually building your fitness and knowledge of the drills we use. Perfect if you're new to freestyle or just getting back into it after a long break. We have a maximum of 4 per lane, grouped by swimming speed to prevent overcrowding and enable you to get the most out of each swim. Everyone gets individual pointers to focus on and LOTS of encouragement!
We're a friendly bunch but we know joining a squad can be a little daunting at first. Our squad is open to everyone, no matter what your swimming background or experience. We all welcome you to come and try out any class and see if it's for you.
How much does it cost?
We have various payment options to suit your lifestyle:
1. PAYG for £15 just book and turn up when your schedule permits or £60 for 5 swims in 2 months.
2. £100 for ten sessions, can't make a session? No problem, book into another squad so you still get your ten swims in ten weeks.
3. £40 for one Squad session per week or £70 for two per week (very good value on 5 week months!)
4. Unlimited annual swim pass also available.
